Does water take up more space when it is liquid or when it is ice? Follow these steps to find out.
What You Need
- Small plastic bottle
- Water
- Aluminum foil
- Freezer
What You Do
- Fill the bottle with water.
- Use the foil to make a loose-fitting cap for the bottle.
- Stand the bottle in the freezer. Leave the bottle until the water freezes.
- Predict: Will the water take up more space when it freezes? Write your prediction on a piece of paper.
