Mix It Up
What happens when you mix milk and chocolate powder? Mmm, chocolate milk! The chocolate powder dissolves in the milk. When you mix water and flour together, you make paste. Do other solids dissolve in water? Record your predictions, then find out with this experiment.
What You Need
- 6 clear plastic cups
- 1.5 L of water
- Spoon
- 5 mL each of sugar, salt, baking soda, pepper, sand
- 2 marbles
What You Do
- Fill each plastic cup half full of water.
- Using your spoon, stir one solid substance into one cup of water.
- Record what you see. Use words or pictures.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3, putting each solid into its own cup.
