Through Materials
What materials will light pass through? Try this experiment to find out.
What You Need
- A clear plastic or glass cup
- A piece of wax paper
- A piece of tissue paper
- A piece of construction paper
- A piece of aluminum foil
- A flashlight

What You Do
- Read all the steps to understand what you will do. Before you do the next steps, write your predictions in the chart below.
- Place the objects in front of a wall. Shine the flashlight onto each of the objects. (Do one object at a time.)
- Observe what happens.
- Does the light pass through any of the objects? How much light passes through? Record your observations on a piece of paper.
