Ontario Curriculum Expectation:
5.D1.1 explain the importance of various sampling techniques for collecting a sample of data that is representative of a population.
What is Bias?
It is important to collect data samples that can represent the population without bias.
Bias is when a survey does not equally or fairly represent the population.
For Example: Your teacher is asking the class what pizza they would like, but the teacher only asks 3 out of 24 students. The survey is biased.
To avoid bias a survey must be conducted fairly.
