Calculate the unit rate to find the better buy when shopping.

The unit rate compares the price of the same item between stores.

Always divide the price by the quantity of items.

Example: Annie wants to buy some t-shirts. Which store has the better buy?

T-Shirts R’ Us sells t-shirts for $4 each, while Shirts Galore sells them for $3 each.

Shirts Galore has the better buy. Annie should go to Shirts Galore to buy t-shirts.
