Civil Servants

A doctor is a civil servant at the provincial level

Did you know that people who work for the government have a special name? They are called civil servants. Some civil servants work for the federal government, some work for the provincial government, and some work for the municipal government. Without these people, the government could not function.

Not all people who work for the government have to be elected by the public. The government hires them because they have skills needed to help efficiently run services, such as hospitals. An example of a civil servant job at the federal level is the armed forces that protect our country and help in times of emergency. An example at the provincial level is a doctor. An example at the municipal level is the workers who collect garbage.
