Ontario Curriculum Expectation:

6.E2.5 create and use nets to demonstrate the relationship between the faces of prisms and pyramids and their surface areas.

Prisms and pyramids are 3-D objects. Objects have length, width and depth.

This cube has 8 vertices, 12 edges and 6 faces.

Prisms have two bases that are parallel and the same. The bases determine the name for the prism. The bases are joined by rectangular faces.

Pyramids have one base connected to triangular faces. The triangular faces meet at the apex.

The bases determine the name for the pyramid.
